About Educational Sustainability Mobilization

Mission Statement:

“EssentialNow” empowers individuals experiencing homelessness, in shelters, transitional housing, or at risk of displacement by providing guided support to stay housed or navigate shelter systems. We address health, mental wellness, education, and housing needs to build long-term stability and independence.


Vision Statement:
We envision a community where every person—regardless of their housing status—has the support, resources, and opportunity to achieve lasting housing stability, wellness, and personal growth.

" I'm deeply invested in this matter due to my personal experiences with homelessness"  In upon relocating to Montgomery County MD, I initially relied on friends and family for support; however, those arrangements ultimately did not prove sustainable. During that time, I sought assistance from what was then known as the Community-Based Shelter(CBS), Progress Place, including Sophia House Shelters. I have participated in the program on two separate occasions. I believe it is important to emphasize that there is life beyond homelessness, and individual experiences with homelessness can vary significantly and are subject to change.  

We offer help our clients can get back on their feet. We are partnered to promote job training, entrepreneurship, tackle food insecurities, housing, career development, and to aid in well-being, care coordination as a reference for sustainable care, we provide the logistics and information to establish the relationship and the support necessary to help individuals achieve their goals.

Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. We offer a variety of opportunities for individuals and groups to get involved and make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
